I woke up this morning feeling very rested. It felt like a haiku morning. And then this came to be:
I opened my eyes.
“You blossom like a flower,”
my love said to me.

Hello friends,
The fist draft of the haiku above sounded like this:
I opened my eyes slowly.
“You blossom like a flower in the morning,”
he said to me.
As you know, haiku consist of 17 syllables, in three metrical phrases of 5, 7, and 5 syllables. And my little poem was not following the pattern so I had to cut it down to what appears above. However, I believe that the first version is more expressive and evocative so I wanted to share it with you too.
