Hello everyone, I am Mira Kelley.
Recently, I was doing a past life regression workshop in New York City, and a lovely woman who sat at the front row asked me this question. She said that her mother has certain physical challenges and emotional issues.
And she said that she prays for her mother, but she was really concerned if through her prayers she’s taking away her mother’s karma. If through her prayer, she’s affecting her mother’s karma.
So, I thought, this was a great question and I wanted to share this question with you and tell you what I told her.
In reality, no amount of praying that the daughter does and offers can affect the mother without the mother choosing to.
So, the mother’s karma can be affected only if she chooses to do something different, if she changes something within herself. Because it really is her own self-imposed way of doing and seeing in the world, so no amount of outside forces can affect her without her agreeing to it.
So here’s what I told the daughter to do. Keep on praying. Praying is a very good thing because it keeps on aligning you within yourself. And I also told her to look within herself. In other words, the challenges that her mother is having, for her to look how those challenges are showing up in her life. Because we usually are part of an ancestral karma, a theme that we are all working through, so mothers and daughters, we all share similar lessons.
So, I told this woman to study within herself, how are these challenges affecting her, how are these things reflecting within herself and to work on herself. Because you know, when people start working on their emotional issues, when they start working on their own spiritual growth, when they start forgiving and letting go of stuff, all of a sudden, their whole family dynamic changes, their family is different.
I have experienced this with my own family, sometimes, I work on my own stuff and all of a sudden, it seems, my mother is different. Did I ever tell her anything? No, of course not. But, by me changing, I actually shift in a reality where she is also a different person.
So, keep on praying for those you love but also, the challenges that they’re facing, study how they’re affecting you, how they are triggering you.
Head over to mirakelley.com so that you can tell me your thoughts about this video and what is the ancestral karma that you are working through.
I look forward to hearing from you. I am sending you all my love and we’ll talk again soon.
I just saw your video on the question of daughter praying for her mother and how karma is affected. I am currently in the same situation… Worrying about my mother AND my daughter, Your answer was perfect . I have experienced the change in them when I change myself . If I am more positive, they become more positive. If I act and speak from a place of love rather than fear and worry, they respond and feel more loving and peaceful. It works!
Thanks Mira for sharing great info!
Joanne
Hi Joanne, I am so happy I reminded you of what you have been practicing and already know. This was inner being guiding you and reminding you to keep on working within and they will reflect that back at you. I am sending you love and support!
Thanks Mira. I loved this information about Ancestral Karma. I’ll keep praying and continue along my journey to change.
Thank you so much, Lizzie. This topic on karma has sparked so many questions, so much discussion everywhere in my work so that means that I will be sharing even more on karma. So stay tuned. Love, Mira
Hi Mira, thanks for sharing your experience. When my friends ask me about the power of prayer I respond that prayer can be grouped into two categories: one which is asking for something and the other which is giving thanks. Any prayer can be beneficial because it is a form of meditation which has a calming and grounding effect on the person.
I do not believe in praying for anything because in so doing I am saying that I know more than the Supreme Being and I am in essence telling Him that he made an error and I aim to straighten Him out. I believe that one should work for that which they desire and if it was intended for them to have it they will achieve their goal. It is best to meditate and allow your inner voice to assist with the planning before you start on any project. Some things were just not meant for us to have. I also use the example of a person with a headache who chooses to pray for the headache to go away without taking any action to relieve the pain, that person is not trying to help himself and his belief in prayer might be harmful to him.
A prayer of thanksgiving shows an acceptance and appreciation of that which you have, even if it is your aches and pains.
Hi Enos! You are making such a good point. I really appreciate what you are saying about prayer!
Mira, you are wonderful. That was the perfect answer!
Here is a quote from THE JESHUA CHANNELINGS which I sighted in order to answer a similar question asked by my family:
“What is healing? What is the essence of healing? What happens when someone “gets well,” whether it is on the psychological, emotional or physical level? What happens is that this person is able to connect again to his or her own inner light, to his or her own greater Self. This connection has a healing effect upon all layers of the self – the emotional, physical and mental levels.
“That’s what it is, nothing else. Basically it is a process that can take place without words or actions. It is the energy itself that you have as a teacher or healer which has the healing effect. It is your enlightened energy that opens up the possibility for someone else to “remember” what they already know, to connect to his inner light, to her intuition. It is this remembrance, this connection that makes the healing happen. All healing is really self-healing.”

Hello John,
Ah, what a brilliant quote. I will look into the book now. I really appreciate you sharing it with me. I will make sure to tell others about it too. Thank you so much!!!
Dear Mira,
I am a Regression and LBL therapist. In general I don’t believe that praying is helping to change anything.
When looking at the question of the daughter who wants to use praying to help her mother. As you said in your answer, it is up to the mother to change anything in her life. But there is another dimension which is even more important: From all the LBL session I did, it is clear that we ourselves are choosing the life that we are in.
We cannot judge whether a situation where somebody is in, is good, bad or maybe intended by the person itself when choosing its life. It is difficult as a human being to find out why we have chosen for the life we are in. During a LBL session it becomes more apparent, why we haven chosen this life and why we did choose the parents we have.
I agree with you that only the person involved is able to change his/her life by making new choices in its life.
I don’t agree what you said that we are part of an ancestral karma and that mothers and daughters share similar lessons. We make individual choices to incarnate into a life.
Ancestors and others could maybe sometimes advice in this choice, but at the end you make your own choices. The meaning of all of it is that you are responsible for your own life, for your own choices in life.
By the way, if there would be an ancestral karma which ancestors would that be? Ancestors from this life or from previous lives? They are not the same.
Kind regards,

I love doing videos and sharing inspiration with you and everyone else!
Dear Mira, even though I feel addressed through your work (book, DVD) and of some other enlightened people ( eg E. Tolle), I feel that there is no hope for me to get what I’ve so much been longing for my entire life – love (and I am 51). I’ve tried 3 times the regression with your DVD, read your book and so many others too, I’ve forgiven, meditated, talked with a shaman etc., etc. but my karma seems to be so bad that nothing can help me in this life. I’ve never been loved, I have no family, no friends , no partners. I’d say that this extrem loneliness is the punishment for something I did in my past lives and I’d like, at least, to understand what I’m punished for. I’m not about to throw a pitty party I’m just learning to accept the loneliness. I’m Polish, living in Germany. So greeting from old good Europe. Malgorzata
Hello Malgorzata, I recently worked with a woman who is experiencing deep loneliness. She went through all these different lifetimes where she saw connection in different ways — friends, co-workers, family, animals, gardening. It brought so much peace to her and so much knowing of how loved she is. It opened up a feeling of safety in her to reach out to people. Continue to use my regression. But also please make efforts to reach out to people. May be voluteer places, start making more small talk with people and do for others what you are yarning for — reaching out to them and expressing admiration, love, friendship, closeness, warm presence. I am sending you oceans of love.
Dear Mira
I think i am going through this karma challenge, my mother never lived with my father even though they are still married, my father always had a women on side , one day i discovered that he pregnent one women , now they are married and have a 15 years old son..
I am 42 years old, living in New Jersey USA. and going through very interesting and weird karma for more than 10 years. whenever i date a guy and we are about to get married, i discover that he has a girl friend or a wife or he get married while he is with me. and they all have one son… i dont know what to do and how to fix this . i am tired of going through same experience over and over and now i am so emotionaly tired and weak that i dont want to date any man… I would love to do past regression and find out why is this happening to me , what did i do in my past life that it is not letting me to get married and always find a cheater with a son.
Hi Foz! I hear everything you are saying and my heart goes out to you. I feel your pain and the challenge this has been. To do a regression — The easiest place to start is to get one of my guided regressions http://mirakelley.com/product-category/regression-and-meditation-albums/ Or you can work with me in a workshop http://mirakelley.com/events/ or in person. I am sending you love and support!
Thank you for posting this wonderful reminder to work on ourselves which shifts our perception of how we see others especially our family members. Myself and my family seem to have an ancestral karma of acting as martyrs and being passive aggressive when our expectations don’t get met. I’m working on this. It’s incredibly challenging but when the going gets tough that’s when I am especially kind to myself…reminding myself that every choice I make affects my overall well being and quality of life and the best choice I can make in every moment is to do whatever is the most loving act I can do even if I have to fake it til I make it. The more I apply what is the most loving choice in every moment the more I feel free and happy.
Thank you Mira for your beautiful light that you add to humanity!
Hi Lei, what an amazing perspective you have on your ancestral karma! Thank you for sharing with me!
Prayer is a gift we give to ourselves and each other. I believe it can change karma for another for the better. Jesus said when two or more is gathered in my name there I am with them. What could be better than asking Jesus to care for our loved ones, to give love to them and support. Sometimes we think karma is a punishment but maybe our karma is that we pray and care for our loved ones to bring about the changes they so desperately need. I also feel it’s is not for us to judge one another or what there experiences mean. I Feel we are all connected and your karma is my karma. Through love and prayer we affect the karma of all.
Hi Sara, I really love what you are saying. Your karma is my karma. True indeed. Thank you!
hello were you get this information, how you know is truth,is not truth that god can change everything? why is not posible that prayer can afect other people life or karma ?does any body question anything anymore ? thanks
Hello Hector, I am so happy to hear from you. Thank you!
